Conformal Field Theories with Boundaries and Defects
Conformal field theories (CFTs) play a fundamental role in quantum field theory (QFT) as they describe fixed points of the renormalization group flow and, thus, they are the natural starting point in the study of more general QFTs. Among many possible deformations, the introduction of defects and boundaries enriches such theories both from a formal perspective, where they enable the exploration of non-local operators, and from a practical one, as they capture finite-size effects and dislocations in condensed matter systems.
In this talk, I will review some aspects of defects and boundaries CFTs following my work on this subject.
